Review and Swatches - Mac Strength Blushes

This collection has done nothing but amaze me, from lipsticks to blushes. Its been a while since I have grabbed a a heap of Mac Blushes from a Limited Edition Collection since Tres Cheek, I always worry that I am going to have colour similar to it. I wanted both of these blushes from the moment I read the descriptions on the colour story, knowing they would be perfect for my skin tone and a great addition to my stash.

Mac Strength Blushes - Taupe Shape & Poised

These are both available in Australia on the 4th of February for $41AU each and are Limited Edition.

Both of these blushes are beautiful, simple as that! The soft texture of the product and finely milled powder make them a dream to work with. They are true to pan colours and take next to no effort to apply them. They blend like a charm on your face and have great wearing time without fade. I have discovered I am getting around 8hrs wear with no fade issues. I normally always go for a matte finish for all of my makeup as you know, and these blushes are both Satin finishes. There is such a subtle sheen in these that when I blended it with my usual Lightscapade Highlighter, it looked natural.

So yes in other words I am in love with these blushes, especially Poised! I have not stopped using it on myself or my clients since I purchased it. I have even used it as an eyeshadow!

Mac Strength Blushes in Natural sunlight - Taupe Shape & Poised

TAUPE SHAPE -This is soft muted brown, described by Mac as a straight up satin taupe. I was worried this would be very close to my contour powder of choice Strada but while it is similar, Taupe Shape is a little darker, different finish (Strada is Matte & Taupe Shape is Satin) and less pink in the undertones. This would normally be seen as a contouring colour, but with the finish being satin it would be used more as a natural blush for a skin tone like mine with my highlighter powder and could also be mixed with other blushes to either pinks or corals to mix it up a little.

POISED - Beautiful peach with a satin finish but described by Mac as a Soft Muted Pink. I thought this would be alot like my go to blush Pink Cult based on the description. I can see the subtle brown colours in this when it is applied to my skin but the peach colouring compliments my skin perfectly. I haven't had a lot of luck with blushes in this colour but the subtle pink in the peach makes it a dream!

These are worth checking out, you wont be disappointed! Considering how fast the collection sold out in the USA, you might want to move quick on them over here too!

  1. I think I'm going to pick up both of these, Poised looks great on you and I think I could use them as eyeshadows as well :)

    1. Thankyou, they are both so lovely and great to use for both blush and eyeshadows, especially for contouring your eyes or creating a strong neutral eye with winged liner.... and I am not kidding how great these are to work with! Definately worth it! I normally depot blushes but I wont be doing that with Poised so that I can keep it single and take it when I travel!
